Use the Security tab to add and edit default values for email, job queue, Point of View Home Page, password security, default entry access time information, and more.
Synergy SIS needs access to an SMTP e-mail server in order to send email automatically. This can be an Exchange server, or Default SMTP Virtual Server included with Windows Server software.
To enable email
Enter SMTP Email Server IP address of server running SMTP
Check Email Enabled.
Enter Default Email From Address to be used as “From:” in messages sent from Synergy SIS
Click to test connection to SMTP server. If there is a problem with connection to email server, a message displays explaining problem. If it is successful, a message displays stating email send request was successful.

NOTE: Be sure anti-virus software installed on Synergy SIS web server is not blocking port 25, as this will prevent e-mail communications.
Job Queue lists all jobs submitted to process server(s), and allows administrators to cancel or pause jobs when needed. It is highly recommended to enable this function.
Tracking logs each attempt to login to Synergy SIS in a database. This can increase database size dramatically. It is recommended to enable this function when diagnosing a problem, only. Tracking data can be accessed directly from database, only.
Password Security sets criteria for native Synergy SIS passwords. Password security will not impact LDAP password setup, if using LDAP integration to logon to Synergy SIS, Synergy SIS Security password options
Enter Server Path to LDAP server. (i.e., LDAP://server.local) In Active Directory, this would be primary domain controller. Synergy SIS uses server path to determine Microsoft Windows server that is running the Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) service and can provide answers to LDAP queries.
Check Secured via SSL if appropriate.
Enter Role Property name of Active Directory Property that stores type of staff member. Each staff member must have a staff type defined. A matching staff type must be stored in Active Directory and staff type box must be checked for RT LDAP Monitor Service to attempt to create a user account. Active Directory property listed here must have matched value for staff types checked. Value stored in Active Directory property must match code in K12.Staff_Type lookup table.
Staff types to allow LDAP to add school year entries controls which user accounts are automatically created by RT LDAP Monitor Service. If your organization only wants to auto create staff accounts with type of teacher only, check teacher, no user accounts will be created for staff entries if staff type is not checked.
