Number of sections for this course.

A term set can be selected for an individual course to override the term code currently assigned in the District Course screen.

NOTE: Term Set Definitions must be created on the Master Builder Options >Additional Options tab prior to using this function.

• Check Term Sets to assign to the course.

OR

Check to select all.

In Sections Per Term grid

• Enter Term Code.

• Enter Min Sections.

• Enter Max Sections.

• Click .

Complete Attributes. The field descriptions are:

• Max Period Load Per Day

Maximum number of periods that can be assigned to a teacher in a day

• Max Period Load Per Term

Maximum number of periods that can be assigned to a teacher in a term

• Opt Period Load Per Day

Optimal number of periods to be assigned to a teacher in a day

• Opt Period Load Per Term

Optimal number of periods to be assigned to a teacher in a term

• Max Seq Periods

Maximum number of sequential periods that can be assigned to a teacher

• Max Stu Load Period

Maximum number of students that can be assigned to a teacher in a period

• Department

If any teacher is not assigned to a lower level of category, and they are assigned to the department selected here in the Staff screen, they will be scheduled using the school-level attributes. If a teacher is not listed in a category and they are not assigned to this department, they will not be scheduled.

• Grade Low

Lowest grade level of students that can be assigned to a teacher

• Grade High

Highest grade level of students that can be assigned to a teacher

• Is Full Time

Check this box if all teachers are full-time teachers

Complete Attributes. The field descriptions are:

• Department

If any room is not assigned to a lower level of category, and it is assigned to the department selected here in the School Room screen, it will be scheduled using the school-level attributes.  If a room is not listed in a category and it is not assigned to this department, and it is not assigned to the selected room type, it will not be scheduled.

• Grade Low

The lowest grade level of students that can be assigned to a room

• Grade High

The highest grade level of students that can be assigned to a room

• Room Type

If any room is not assigned to a lower level of category, and it is assigned to the room type selected here in the School Room screen, it will be scheduled using the school-level attributes.  If a room is not listed in a category and it is not assigned to this room type, and it is not assigned to the selected department, it will not be scheduled.

• Max Size

The maximum number of students that can be assigned to a room

• Click on Staff bar. Chooser screen opens.

• Enter partial or complete data on any white field.

• Click . Search Results displays a list of records matching criteria entered

• Click anywhere on appropriate staff record to highlight.

• Press CTRL down while clicking records to select multiple records at a time.

• Click   .                                  

OR

• Click . This will move all records found in Find Result column to Selected Items column.

Multiple searches may be made until all records have been found and added to Selected Items column.

• Check to delete an undesired record from Selected Items column, if needed.

• Click  . This will close Chooser screen and staff records selected will be listed in Staff grid.

Another Find can be conducted by entering different criteria, if desired.

• Click  on Room bar. Chooser screen opens.

• Enter partial or complete data on any white field.

For each course:  

• Click Link Method and select method to link to the sections of courses.  

Minimum Section method links the least number of sections, generally on a 1-to-1 basis. An example of a minimum link would be linking an A section of a course to the B section of the course across semesters.  

Maximum Section method links as many sections as possible, and can be one to many.  An example of a maximum linking would be a large lecture class linked to many smaller lab classes.

Custom method specifies the exact number of links.  If selected, indicate number of sections for primary course in Course 1 Sections and  number of sections in linked course in Course 2 Sections.

Blank defaults to Maximum Section.

The Builder Rules specify how the course link is treated when building sections of the courses.  These rules are:

Allow the periods assigned to the sections of the linked courses to overlap and assign them to the same room.  This allows the section of one course to be scheduled in the same period and room as the section of the linked course.

• Schedule Sections In Different Rooms

Assign different rooms to the linked sections.

• Schedule Sections In Different Terms
