This is the new screen that displays when clicking the Add button at the top of Section screen from any tab. Use Current Students tab to add a section and define section details.
Section ID (required) will be green and blank if option for Auto Sequence within School Scheduling Options is set to Manual. It will be gray and contain asterisks (*****) if option for Auto Sequence within School Scheduling Options is set for anything but Manual.
Click next to Course ID to select a course. Find: Course screen displays.
Enter all or part of Course ID or Course Title.
Click . Search Results displays a list of matching criteria.
Click line of course name. Line highlights.
Click again or click . Find: Course screen closes and Course Title displays.
Click next to Staff Name to select a specific teacher. Find Staff screen displays.
Enter all or part of teacher Last Name, First Name.
Click . Search Results displays a list of matching criteria.
Click line of staff name. Line highlights.
Click again or click . Find: Staff screen closes and staff name displays in Staff Name.
Click next to Room Name to select room. Find: School Room screen displays.
Enter all or part of Room Name, School Year.
Click . Search Results displays a list of matching criteria.
Click line of Room Name. Line highlights.
Click again or click . Find: School Room screen closes and Room Name displays.
Click Period Begin and Period End and select periods section will be taught.
Click Term Code and select term section will be taught.
Click Exclude Attendance and select appropriate option for section.
Include in Attendance – Attendance will be taken for section.
Include in Attendance – No Scan Sheet – Attendance will be taken for section but no scan sheet is necessary.
Exclude from Attendance – Attendance will not be taken for section.
Click Exclude Grading and select appropriate option for section.
Include in Grading – A grading record will be created for each student in this section
Include in Grading – No Scan Sheet – A grading record will be created for each student in this section. No grading scan sheet will be created.
Exclude from Grading – A grading record will not be created for this section.
Click Attendance Type and select appropriate option for section.
Click Supplemental Funding Category and select appropriate option if section is used for supplemental funding.
Enter Instructional Minutes Override. This may be needed for sections that meet over lunch period. For example, if Period 4 in bell schedule includes 30 minutes for lunch and 60 minutes for section, section instructional minutes should be set to only 60.
Check Elementary Minutes, if desired, so that number of minutes submitted to state for section can be customized for each day of week. A new section displays on Section screen above Students grid, with spaces to indicate number of minutes for each weekday.
Click Instructional Strategy and select. These values can be customized by district in Lookup Table Definition screen.
Click Category Code Override and select
Check Distance Learning, if appropriate.
Check Independent Study, if appropriate.
Click Grade Range Low/High and select grade restrictions if any. If blank, and there is a restriction indicated in District Course, restriction will appear upon Save. This may be override by changing restriction and save a second time.
Click Gender Restriction and select gender restriction if any. If blank, and there is a restriction indicated in District Course, restriction will display upon Save. This may be overridden by changing restriction and saving a second time.
Enter Credit type to be earned upon completion of this section. If left blank, credit will pull from District Course.
Click House and select if section is part of a house.
Click Team and select if section is part of a team.
Click Term Exclusion and select if section must be scheduled in a separate term than other sections, select same Term Exclusion code for each section.
Check No Term Override if a student may not select a term override for this section, (meaning only be scheduled for a portion of section). If Term Override is allowed do not check.
Click Exclude from Mass Scheduling and select if section is to not be included in mass scheduling process.
Enter Student Seat Max value for number of students to be scheduled in section.
Enter Teacher Aide Max value for max number of teacher aide seats available for section.
Click next to Grade Book Specialist Group to assign users as specialists to this section. Find: SISUserGroup displays.
Enter all or part of User Group Name.
Click . Search Results displays a list of User Groups matching criteria entered.
Click line of group to use.
Click again. Find: SISUserGroup closes and Grade Book Specialist Group displays.
Check Course Excluded From State Reporting, if appropriate.
Click Exclude From State Reporting and select.
Click NCLB and select.
Click TeacherVUE Primary Staff Attendance and select role.
Click Additional Staff Attendance and select and select role.
Click or follow directions to add students to section.
