District Setup

The years displayed in the tree are controlled by the year entered in the Base Year field. The Base Year is the earliest school for which there will be data in Synergy SIS.

Synergy SIS automatically displays a year in the tree from the Base Year to the year selected as the Current Year, and three years beyond the Current Year.

• Enter Base Year in four digit format.

• Click Current Year and select year.

• Click .

NOTE:  If current year is not displayed, select year closest to current year and save changes. Years displayed will expand. Continue selecting year closest to current year and saving until current year is displayed in list.

After years have been setup, an extension must be added to each year for which data will be entered. An extension is type of school year, such as summer, night or regular. Each extension has its own school and district calendar and setup options. Synergy SIS lists three types of school years by default. These can be customized by modifying Year Extensions table found under namespace Revelation.OrganizationInfo.  

To add an extension to a year in tree:

• Click on year in Organization Year Tree.

• Click Action… and select Add Extension. Add Year Extensions screen displays.  

• Select Year Extensions and select option.

To add this extension to every existing school,

• Check Link Year will all organizations.  

If this box is not checked, extension will need to be manually added to each school Any school that is added to Synergy SIS after extension is created will only have year in focus with regular extension added to it, and all other years and extensions will need to be manually linked to school.

NOTE:  During initial setup of Synergy SIS, add only current year’s regular extension at first and set that year as focus. Then create organizations and schools. After schools have been created, come back to District Setup and create rest of extensions so they are automatically linked to all of schools.

These permissions can be overridden by security assigned to user groups and users. Initially,it is recommended to leave all permissions to Update, or even an administrator logon can be locked out of making changes to system.

• Click Previous Year(s) Permission .

• Click Current Year Permission .

• Click Next Year(s) Permission .

• Click .

• Enter Summer School Year in four digit format.

• Click Summer School Type  and select extension.

• Click .
