Click Action . . . and select Add
Strand. The Add Strand screen opens.
Enter the Strand Name.
This is usually the specific name within the subject, such as
Algebra or Chemistry.
Enter the Abbreviation.
This is an abbreviation of the strand name for display
purposes, such as CHM for chemistry.
Check Do Not Include In
Grade Book if desired.
Check Essential Skill
to identify all work samples associated with this strand as essential
skills. If Essential Skill is selected, the Show Essential Skill
Type on Views option displays.
Select Show Essential
Skill Type on Views to display the Essential Skills
checkbox on the Student Work Sample History Add screen, the Student
Work Sample History grid, The Student Work Sample detail tab,
the Class Work Sample History grid.
If the Show Essential Skill Type on Views option is selected the
Allow Override of Essential Skill Type option displays.
Check Allow Override of
Essential Skill Type , if desired. This will make the Essential
Skill checkbox editable.
Select the Default Essential
Skill Type from the drop-down.
NOTE: Only Essential
Skills work samples are used in the graduation calculations, and appear
on transcripts and report cards.
