Work Sample Definition

Click Action . . . and select Add Level. The Add Level screen displays.

Enter the Level Name. This is usually the school or grade level.
Enter an Order for the level to display. This may be entered later, if desired.

NOTE: Order means the way the levels display on the Work Sample Definition screen. If no order is set, they display in alphabetical order.

Check the grades that apply to this work sample definition. Check to select all grades.
Click . The new level displays on the Work Sample Definition screen.

Repeat to add all levels.

2. Add Work Sample Definition Subjects

Click on the level name. The name highlights.
Click Action . . . and select Add Subject. The Add Subject screen opens.

Enter the Subject Name. This is the general subject name, such as Math or Science.
Enter an Order. This may be entered later, if desired.
Click . The Subject displays under the level.
Repeat to add all subjects to the level.

3. Add Work Sample Definitions Strands

Click on the subject name. The name highlights.
Click Action . . . and select Add Strand. The Add Strand screen opens.

Enter the Strand Name. This is usually the specific name within the subject, such as Algebra or Chemistry.
Enter the Abbreviation. This is an abbreviation of the strand name for display purposes, such as CHM for chemistry.
Check Do Not Include In Grade Book if desired.
Check Essential Skill to identify all work samples associated with this strand as essential skills. If Essential Skill is selected, the Show Essential Skill Type on Views option displays.
Select Show Essential Skill Type on Views to display the Essential Skills checkbox on the Student Work Sample History Add screen, the Student Work Sample History grid, The Student Work Sample detail tab, the Class Work Sample History grid.

If the Show Essential Skill Type on Views option is selected the Allow Override of Essential Skill Type option displays.

Check Allow Override of Essential Skill Type , if desired. This will make the Essential Skill checkbox editable.
Select the Default Essential Skill Type from the drop-down.

NOTE: Only Essential Skills work samples are used in the graduation calculations, and appear on transcripts and report cards.

Enter the Order.
Click .
Repeat to add all strands.

4. Add Work Sample Definitions Duration

Click on the strand name. The name highlights.
Click Action . . . and select Add Duration. The Add Duration screen displays.

Select the Work Sample As of Year.
Select the Scoring Method.
Enter the Total Number of Traits.
Enter the Minimum Score Needed.
Click
Repeat to add all durations.

5. Add Work Sample Definition Traits

Click on the duration name. The name highlights.
Click Action . . . and select Add Trait. The Add Trait screen displays.

Enter the Trait. This is usually a skill set, such as Conceptual Understanding or Communication.
Enter the Description of this trait.
Enter the Order.
Select Do Not Include In Calculations to exclude this trait from the graduation calculations.
Select a Score Group.
Click . The Score Map for the selected Score Group displays in the Details tab.

Repeat to add all traits.

Work Sample Definition:

Use the Work Sample Definition tab to develop a customized work sample definition.

Tasks

Create Work Sample Definition

1. Add Work Sample Definition Levels

Click Action . . . and select Add Level. The Add Level screen displays.

Enter the Level Name. This is usually the school or grade level.

Enter an Order for the level to display. This may be entered later, if desired.

NOTE: Order means the way the levels display on the Work Sample Definition screen. If no order is set, they display in alphabetical order.

Check the grades that apply to this work sample definition. Check to select all grades.

Click . The new level displays on the Work Sample Definition screen.

Repeat to add all levels.

2. Add Work Sample Definition Subjects
