Use District Attendance Code screen to define attendance codes used in district schools. This is the final step in attendance configuration These codes define what absences are reported to the state, and what category is used for reporting.
Click . A new line displays for new attendance code at bottom of Attendance Reasons grid.
Enter following information for each new code
Enter Code to be used as an abbreviation for absence reason. It should be descriptive of reasons, such as UNV for Unverified.
Enter in Title a full description of reason for absence.
Click Type and select.
Option Descriptions
Positive
Student was NOT absent.
Non-Enrollment
Student was not enrolled at school or in period for which attendance is being taken.
Unverified
Reason for absence has not been verified with parents.
Excused
Absences and tardies arranged in advance with school or some unavoidable event took place such as an illness.
Unexcused
Absences or tardies that occur with no warning, such as student skipping a class or showing up late for no reason.
School Activity
Authorized activity such as detention or a visit to nurse.
Set Apportionment Type Override if an attendance reason needs to be classified contrary to its state reporting classification.
Select Towards Apportionment if attendance reason should count as a positive type of attendance.
OR
Select Against Apportionment if attendance reason is a type of absence for state reporting.
For example, if a reason needs to be classified as an Excused absence for a report but state does not consider this an absence. Type would be excused and Apportionment Type Override would be Towards Apportionment.
Check Report to State to have absence reported to state.
Check Default Dialer to have absence sent to automatic dialer for parent notification.
Check Default Letter to have absences generate a letter to be sent home to parents.
Check Default Report to have absence listed in attendance reports.
Check Default TeacherVUE to have code used as an absence reason in TeacherVUE.
Check Mandatory to have code used at all schools in district.
Enter SIS Code used in old system for this absence reason, if converting data from another student information system.
Click .
Columns on Attendance Reason grid are sortable.
Click next to column title to sort ascending/descending.
